Существительное уверенность передается на английский язык синонимами confidence и assurance, которые могут взаимозаменяться в значении 'уверенность в себе, в своих силах, способностях'. Однако assurance предполагает большую уверенность, чем confidence, и в ряде случаев переводится на русский язык словами самоуверенность, самонадеянность (иногда наглость): nothing could shake their assurance in their power и the hardened criminal is remarkable for habitual assurance.
